The great Mark Knopfler says this about music: ‘Each song has its own secret that's different from another song, and each has its own life. Sometimes it has to be teased out, whereas other times it might come fast. There are no laws about songwriting or producing…’. In 'Savoury' Cascadian serves up his singular, music DNA, that has its own secret, different from 'Instant Gratification'. Carefree and lawless.
Cascadian, a Southwestern Ontario singer/songwriter and guitarist, fingerprints his unchained guitar as an extension of his own music DNA. His light-fingered precision and range invites us into a ‘savoury’ slow burn that transitions into a buoyant, exuberant jazz/fusion, subtly shredding and nostalgic. Pushing through genre barriers, ‘Savoury’ has a flavour of its own – a calm, a flash, a fire, an afterglow. Listening to Cascadian is reminiscent of Malmsteen, Blackmore, Vai, Gilbert. ‘Savoury’ is about embracing the mood of each temporal moment constantly transitioning to the unexpected.
